This is a collection of 11 science fiction short stories and a poem by Isaac Asimov. The Bicentennial Man features as one of the stories and was later expanded into a novel called The Positronic Man which was co written with Robert Silverberg. The Positronic Man formed the basis of the film Bicentennial Man, starring Robin Williams

In the twenty-first century the invention of the positronic brain revolutionizes life on Earth with the creation of the complex Robot. But for the Martin family their NDR-113 robot is much more than a mechanical servant. "Andrew" has become a member of the Martin family.

The story is told from the perspective of Andrew (later known as Andrew Martin), an NDR-series robot owned by the Martin family, a departure from the usual practice by U.S. Robots and Mechanical Men of leasing robots.

At its heart this story is about humanity. Andrew strives his whole life to be considered equal to those around him, and this tale is a very heartwarming, personal and at times humorous account of his journey.
